We would like you and your family to be comfortable during your stay at MidState.
Meals
During labor, ice chips and popsicles are available to patients unless there is some reason you are not able to tolerate them. Each day after delivery, you will be served three meals of your selection from a provided menu. Your room is equipped with a small refrigerator for your convenience.
Special Dinner:
As you celebrate the birth of your child, we invite you to dine from a special selection dinner menu. This gourmet dinner for two will be offered to you and your spouse/birthing partner once during your stay. Enjoy!
Patient Kitchenette:
Selections of cold sandwiches, popsicles, beverages and snacks are available for patients and hungry Dads in our kitchenette. Children are not allowed in the kitchenette for safety reasons.
Cafeteria/Dunkin’ Donuts:
Guests and visitors are welcome to visit the cafeteria located on the first floor just before the Information Desk. Dunkin’ Donuts is located next to the Library and Gift Shop in the Galleria.
Amenities
Television
Cable TV is available in each room with a Newborn Channel for patient education.
Health Information
Your nurse will provide you with information about caring for yourself and your new baby. Feel free to make any additional requests for information. The Newborn Channel offers a series of programs specifically for parents of newborns. A Patient / Family Resource Center is located in the Galleria, next to Dunkin’ Donuts.
Gift Shop
Offering a variety of items, including gifts for baby, you will find the Gift Shop open weekdays 9am - 9pm and weekends 9am - 6pm.
Chapel
For those seeking spiritual support, there is a small chapel off the Galleria.
Services
Infant Photos
You will have the opportunity to have your infant’s photo taken on the day before you go home. Please be sure to have your baby’s outfit ready for the afternoon before discharge. You will be provided with an informational packet while you are in the hospital.
Soft Touch
Soft Touch a free service provided by MidState to help you relax while you're in the hospital. Our trained volunteers will provide relaxation rubs to your hands, feet and face. Most patients find that Soft Touch is very effective in helping them relax. It's part of our philosophy of integrating the mind, body, psyche and spirit in caring for you. Soft Touch service is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Just ask your nurse for additional details.
Foot Massage
Specially trained volunteers provide “soft touch” relaxation rubs to our patients’ hands and feet. Relaxation rubs are proven to reduce stress for patients and help them relax while in the hospital environment. Patients love it!

Waiting Areas
Waiting area is in the Galleria, just outside the Birthing Center Visitor food and beverages at Dunkin’ Donuts, Cafeteria, Gift Shop Nurses will provide direction based on your needs and the needs of your baby
Policies
Smoking Policy
MidState Medical Center is a “NONSMOKING” facility and grounds. Visiting smokers may smoke in their vehicle only.
Photography & Videotaping
Photography is permitted except during procedures such as epidural placement, actual birth and during a Cesarean section. Ask your nurse for details.
Phones
Each room is equipped with a telephone for local calls and operator assisted long distance calls. For local calls dial “9” and the number. Cellular phones are NOT permitted inside the Family Birthing Center.
