Travel Clinic & Infectious Diseases

If you are planning to travel outside of the United States for business or pleasure, the MidState Medical Center Travel Clinic can help you and your family prepare for your trip.

All travel services are provided by a physician who is board-certified in Infectious Diseases and can answer health-related questions about your destination of choice.

The Travel Clinic offers

  • Instruction on proper medication usage and dosages
  • Determination of which vaccines you will need according to your travel location, what is recommended and what is required
  • Health counseling for travelers, including current health risks
  • Fast, convenient and quality service

Returning travelers who have become ill with a potential travel-related illness can also be evaluated, after appropriate referral, to our Infectious Disease Clinic.


Immunization & Prescriptions

Immunizations are recommended for travel to various parts of the world. Some vaccines require booster inoculations.

We offer immunizations and medications to protect against the following:

  • Yellow fever
  • Malaria (prescription)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • Polio
  • Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis
  • Travelers' Diarrhea (prescription)
  • Typhoid

We also offer various inoculations that are generally not stocked in your primary physician's office:

  • Influenza
  • Meningococcal (required for students entering dorm life in college)
  • Rabies

Scheduling an Appointment

Prospective travelers should call the Travel Clinic six weeks prior to their departure date. To schedule an appointment, please call 203.694.5444. The Travel Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Appointments are scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm.


Payment

The MidState Travel Clinic accepts payment for vaccinations and immunizations by insurance (once verified), check or credit card. Please note that most health insurance plans do not cover this service.
