Our urologists are specialists who provide care through every stage of adult life: Whatever your age, a problem with the male or female urinary tract can happen to anyone.
Because Urology Services treats an extraordinary range of clinical problems - erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, congenital abnormalities, urinary tract stones and diseases of the kidney, prostate, ureters, bladder and adrenal glands - proper care demands knowledge of multiple medical specialties and the latest technology.
If your treatment includes surgery, we'll use minimally invasive procedures whenever possible. An enlarged prostate, not uncommon among men 50 and over, is treatable when medication fails by the Greenlight Laser surgical procedure that uses high-intensity pulsing laser light to vaporize tissue. With this technology, our surgeons open the channel squeezed by the prostate without making an incision.
The da Vinci Surgical System, a robotic aid controlled by a surgeon from a console, is also available for complex, but minimally invasive, procedures. Because of their precision and small incisions, these procedures are known for reducing hospital stays, increasing recovery times and a limiting the need for narcotic pain medications.
Patients also benefit from our affiliation with Hartford HealthCare's Tallwood Urology and Kidney Institute, which has assembled six disease-management teams - urologic oncology, kidney stones, pelvic health, men's health, general urology and chronic kidney disease - for improved coordination of care and consistency of clinical outcomes throughout the Hartford HealthCare system.
