Our state-of-the-art ED is designed with the needs of patients and their family members in mind.
It features:
- 56 private rooms with doors for your comfort and security
- Convenient access to laboratory and radiology services right within the department
- Access to a wide array of specialists at the hospital
- The use of EPIC for patient charting, allowing your test results and information to be transferred quickly and efficiently
- Designation as a Primary Stroke Center, signifying high-quality care for stroke treatment (lower)
- A dedicated, separate Acute Behavioral Health Unit so that patients requiring psychiatric care feel safe and are not disrupted by the main ED area (moved lower)
We utilize LIFE STAR’s critical care helicopter service, which responds to and provides air transport to Hartford Hospital, for patients who require care at a tertiary care trauma center. LIFE STAR maintains a permanent base behind the MidState Medical Center ED.
