Adult Volunteers

There are many volunteer opportunities available for anyone with a few hours a week to spare.

Volunteers support the hospital in so many ways. Whether you prefer being "behind the scenes," or enjoy being with patients and visitors, there is a volunteer role just right for you


Volunteer Opportunities

Information Desk Ambassador/Escort
Greet and direct patients and visitors, work on computers, answer phones, escorting patients and families to correct destination within the hospital.

COI Ambassador
Interact with accompanying persons to inform them about waiting area, cafeteria, and gift shop. Ambassador takes calls from OR, sets up family members in glass house for doctors to come out and update.

Patient Experience
Interact with patients and help address any needs or request. Providing comfort measures to patients on the unit, including warm blankets and refreshments

Gift Shops
Assist in gift shops run at all hospital locations, will be trained on cash register.

Pet Therapy
Provide comfort and support to patients and reduce stress of by allowing a patient to visit with a certified, well-trained therapy dog.

Mobility
Assist patients with mobilization under direction of physical therapy and nursing staff

Reiki
Provide Reiki sessions to patients and promote relaxation while reduce anxiety and stress. Certified Reiki Practitioners only (must provide appropriate documentation).

Cancer Center
Assist staff with sanitizing chairs between patients, and provide comfort measures during patient treatments, such as providing blankets, water, etc. There is also a need for administrative tasks, such as filing, copying, answering phones.

Surgical Center
Greet patients and visitors, function as liaison between nursing staff and patient families, answer phones, provide walking or wheelchair escorts as needed, assist department with other tasks as needed.

Book Cart
Visit patients with our library of free books, magazines, crossword puzzles and word searches!

Patient Aid
Assist nursing staff in running errands or clerical work, round on patients periodically, replenishes water jugs, etc.


How to Become an Adult Volunteer

If you are 18 or over and NOT in high school, you can apply as an adult (teens apply here)

  • Apply Online

  • Complete an in-person interview

  • Attend mandatory hospital orientation

  • Provide a Health Clearance Form (.pdf format) to be completed by your PCP

  • Commitment to volunteering four hours one day a week - just a few hours makes a big difference!
