Community Fundraising Events

MidState Medical Center Auxiliary

From its beginning in 1885, our Auxiliary and its members have provided services to the hospital, comforting patients and families through a wide variety of volunteer efforts and financial support. The Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts have realized thousands of dollars for hospital equipment, patient programs and services while always keeping in mind the hospital’s mission to improve the health and healing of all. Over the past decade, major contributions to MidState Medical Center have included the Emergency Department, Cancer Institute, Family Birthing Center, Neuroscience Institute and the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at MidState Medical Center.

CT Breast Health Initiative Race in the Park

Dedicated and staying fit together, a community of colleagues from The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center participate in the annual CT Breast Health Initiative Race in the Park at Walnut Hill Park in New Britain. Team members raised thousands for the CT Breast Health Initiative, which supports breast cancer research across the state of Connecticut. To register or to learn more, visit www.ctbhi.org/the-race

Platt High School Girls’ Volleyball Team & Booster Club

Since 2011, during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, the Platt High School Girls’ Volleyball Team & Booster Club hold a fundraiser in support of cancer care at MidState Medical Center. During their home game at Platt High School in Meriden, funds are raised by selling baked goods, collecting outright donations and a basket drawing. Cancer survivors are recognized and celebrated during this special fundraising event.

Wallingford Education Association Teachers Union

The teachers union at the Wallingford Education Association and staff members from all twelve Wallingford school districts held a book drive to celebrate Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day. Several area agencies, including MidState Medical Center, were the recipients of the donated books. Hospital stays can weigh heavy on patients and their visitors and the book cart is a great way to enhance the overall patient experience.

Pink Ladies’ Sisters for Hope Foundation

For several years, a group of dedicated women from the Pink Ladies’ Sisters for Hope Foundation gather monthly to assemble and distribute “busy bags” for cancer patients at MidState Medical Center. The bags are filled with comfort and care items to help support cancer patients during a difficult time. The Pink Ladies’ Sisters for Hope Foundation’s mission is to offer financial support to community members as they undergo cancer treatments. Through a broad array of fundraisers, members work throughout the year to raise money for endeavors that ease the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Apple Valley Quilters Association

Apple Valley Quilters Association generously donated several sets of post–mastectomy support pillows to MidState Medical Center. Each set includes a large pillow and two smaller pillows, providing extra comfort and support to patients who are healing after mastectomy surgery.
