MAKOplasty® Enables a New Level of Accuracy for Partial Knee and Total Hip Replacement

MAKOplasty® is an innovative treatment option for adults living with early to mid-stage joint degeneration of the hip or knee. It allows for reproducible precision and smaller incisions during surgery.

MidState Medical Center is among the first in Central Connecticut to offer patients a new tool in orthopedic surgery. MAKOplasty® for partial knee resurfacing and total hip replacement procedures uses the RIO® Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System. RIO is a surgeon-controlled robotic arm system that enables even more precise alignment and placement of implants.

Patient Education

If you are having Total Joint Surgery, preparation for surgery, recovery and a pre-planned discharge are an important part of your care. For this reason, we provide education in the form of a Total Joint Pre-Op Class. We offer both an in-person class and an online class for those patients unable to attend. The class outlines everything you need to do before, during, and after surgery. Planning tools, advice on medications, diet recommendations and exercise recommendations are also included.
