Aziz Benbrahim, MD joined MidState Medical Center as a general surgeon in 2002 and was named the medical director of the hospital’s Weight Management Program in 2004. A graduate of Mohammed V University and the University School of Medicine in Morocco, Dr. Benbrahim is board certified with special expertise in laparoscopic procedures. He began his surgical training in France and then completed a 6-year residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, an affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Benbrahim spent three years as a Research Fellow in the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Connecticut State Medical Society and the New Haven County Medical Association.

Louis Meyer, MD, is a board certified general surgeon with special interest in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed five years of post-doctoral surgical training at St. Luke's Hospital Center in New York City. He was a clinical Fellow of the American Cancer Society and served two years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force at Plattsburg, NY, where he was Chief of Surgery at the U.S. Air Force Hospital. Dr. Meyer has been active in hospital affairs and has served as Chairman of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Director of Division of Surgery, and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Elizabeth Riordan, MD is a board certified general surgeon who also serves as the Director of Breast Services at MidState Medical Center. She specializes in breast surgery, but also performs comprehensive general surgery that includes but is not limited to laparoscopic procedures, head and head surgery and bariatric surgery. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a Master's of Science degree from Columbia University, Dr. Riordan earned her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She then completed her residency training at The State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Riordan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery.

Daniel Schwartz, MD, an established general and vascular surgeon, has been practicing in the greater Meriden area for the past 24 years. He has been treating varicose veins with state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques, and now adds LASER surgery to his repertoire. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, he received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School and completed his residency training at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Schwartz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the New England Society for Vascular Surgery, The Michael E. DeBakey International Surgical Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
