Commitment to Recovery

MidState Medical Center understands the importance of high quality behavioral health services to the communities we serve. We work in partnership with Rushford, one of the leading behavioral healthcare organizations in Connecticut, to ensure a continuum of care is available for children, adults and families in need of mental health and/or addiction services.

EMERGENCY SERVICES
The hospital provides 24-hour emergency psychiatric services staffed by mental health professionals from Rushford with expertise in helping patients match their individual needs with the appropriate services.

CONSULTATION SERVICES
Rushford psychiatrists and mental health professionals provide consultation services to our medical and surgical unit patients and their families who are in need of assistance.

INPATIENT PROGRAM
The hospital, in collaboration with Rushford, provides a short-term psychiatric inpatient program for adults. Patients admitted to the inpatient program are either referred from their community provider (physician, therapist) or are admitted following an assessment of their needs in the emergency department. Occasionally, patients are transferred to MidState Medical Center from other facilities.

All admissions must be coordinated to ensure that inpatient treatment is appropriate. A caring staff of doctors, nurses and mental health professionals provide patients with a structured, intensive, individually tailored opportunity to recover and grow. If an individual is at risk of harming him/herself or others, the focused attention and safety of a hospital setting can make a difference.

Together with the patient, the inpatient team of doctors, nurses and mental health workers develops treatment and discharge plans that support recovery, including placement to partial hospital, intensive outpatient, outpatient and relapse prevention programs.
